Clean Plates (Brooklyn) A Guide to the Healthiest Tastiest and Most Sustainable Restaurants for Vegetarians and Carnivores.

Harry's Pizzeria, Design District Miami

Michael Schwartz restaurant in Design District, Michael's Genuine, is without doubt one of my favorites and their latest venture in the same neighborhood, Harry's Pizzeria do not disappoint. Well known for their great and fresh ingredients in their food, Harry's offers delicious salads, pizzas and desserts and great beer in a cool, casual and unpretentious location. It's great for a pizza and a beer after work or if you are around sit at their bar and grab a bite while listen some music or watch a game in their TV. Also since this year, Michael Genuine has their own beer, I try it last Sunday and it's delicious. According to their web site, Michael's Genuine Home Brew, can adapt to different variety of dishes and complement many different flavors. Harry's has my favorite dessert lately, Zeppole, which is basically a deep fried dough balls, like little doughnuts served with a honey whipped ricotta sauce that I loved! They also served Miami local, Panther Coffee.

For the love of pork, Pubbelly!

Puerto Ricans, doesn't matter where we live, are proud of our culture and gastronomy and when we find a place that feels like home its like winning the lottery. Without any doubt Pubbelly it's like that. Pubbelly is a gastropub and their main focus is to serve great food, a good selection of beers, wines and sakes. They have plenty of options to enjoy in their menu and it is a paradise for pork lovers. My favorite ever is el Mofongo, a side dish that always has to be your table. The pork and scallions dumplings are to die for, the Bay Scallops, el Cochinito and a few months ago I got emotional to find out that they add for a while tostones de pana in their menu, just like home. These days, luckily we have Miami Spice going on and Pubbelly offers a great sharing menu with the best of their flavors. Pubbelly is the first child of a few others successful restaurants that Avocados and Tomatoes love: Barceloneta, Pubbelly Sushi and lately Macchialina. The guys behind the creation of Pubbelly are Andreas Schreiner, Chef Sergio Navarro and Chef José Mendín. A great place with good music and delicious food. Eating House, a Pop-Up restaurant

Great food in unexpected places! A pop-up restaurant usually open for service in a location that belongs to another business. During the day it can be a coffee shop or a cafeteria. It is also a great option for young chefs and entrepreneurs to try a concept and eventually decide if the venture will become permanently. In Miami, we have a great and successful pop-up restaurant in Coral Gables named Eating House. Part of the history, according to their website is about two friends, Giorgio Rapicavoli and Alex Cassanova, that always dreamed about opening a restaurant. After a trip to Italy, everything change. They open the place that they always dreamed, but in their way. In a industry that is full of complaining customers for a single thing, their best offer is great food with the best ingredients, take it or leave it. They created Eating House to share their passion for great food. After 6 successful months in Café Ponce they close and re-open again in mid August. The same location in Coral Gables will be renovated and open again in November as the Eating House permanent location. Chef Giorgio Rapicavoli keep updating the menu every night adding his roots and experiences to every dish. Food, friends, family, great wine and a great conversation, sounds like a plan and now, permanently. Eating House [pop-up restaurant] - Café Ponce - 804 Ponce de Leon Blvd. Coral Gables, fl 33134.

Happy Labor Day!

Restaurant workers need to work long hours and usually take days off during weeks days so they can be available on weekends and holidays. It doesn't matter if there is a hurricane, Mother's Day, Thanksgiving or Christmas, servers, food runners, bussers, cooks, dishwashers are able and ready to get your food at the table. Even in New Year's Eve, we always say goodbye to a year and welcome a new one with our second family at work. Today, is Labor Day and I applaud all my colleagues and their hard work. Wishing that our dreams and goals reach reality soon. Happy Labor Day!
